an in-depth examination of this issue will require an analysis of each
particular case, but in general it ought to be pointed that the authors of the
New Testament were Jews who, obviously, regarded the stories of Mithra, Osirus,
etc. as false. Thus suggesting that the
early Christians patterned their stories of Jesus (in whom they did believe)
after such characters would be tantamount to suggesting that someone could come
to believe in aliens after seeing E. T. in the movie.
